Esmée Peets
Artist and arts educator from Ottawa, studying Art History and Studio Arts at Concordia University in Montréal.
Esmée works in acrylic, graphite and mixed media. Her paintings stay close to the body — hands, a neck, the side of a face — set in saturated berry and violet over hand-drawn patterned grounds. Her graphite drawings work in monochrome and fine detail: layered faces, a flock of pigeons, a small dog wrapped in a blanket.
She completed the Visual Arts concentration at École secondaire publique De La Salle in Ottawa (2019–2025), and has made wearable sculpture and staged photography in collaboration with Charlotte Burnett Vachon and Claire Lacroix.
Alongside her own work, she teaches. She has given private drawing lessons since 2022, taught weekly children's classes with Mon Samedi Dans Les Arts, and in summer 2026 joined the Ottawa Art Gallery's Learning and Engagement department — programming camp activities, leading gallery tours, and running workshops for children and adults with disabilities.
She works in English and French, and has sung soprano with Ottawa choirs since 2015.
